American Fantasy Classics presents: Abeaiaa Sligrsr Vrgiimn
an exhibition of new works by Chicago Artists Dustin Ruegger, Mike Kloss, and Ron Ewert, with an opening reception on Thursday June 9th from 7-11 PM.
“Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die.” – Mel Brooks
For their first exhibition in Milwaukee since graduating from MIAD in 2004, Ruegger, Kloss, and Ewert will present a series of works conceived and produced in collaboration with American Fantasy Classics. Engaging a network of absurd and often contradictory concepts such as entertainment, regionalism, haste, anachronism, comedy and intelligibility, the artists present the outcomes of idiosyncratic research into their own related yet distinctly different practices.
Dustin Ruegger, Mike Kloss, and Ron Ewert each received their BFA from MIAD in 2004, currently share a studio and co-direct The Hills Esthetic Center, an alternative art space in Chicago. Ron Ewert is currently an MFA candidate at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Special thanks to Milwaukee's John Kowalczyk for his contribution to this exhibition.
